This website was launched by Barbara Dischinger:

"The idea came to me because I found that there was no tool currently available to provide women with all the relevant information. Men in the sector are very active and have their global networks providing them with jobs and [sensitive] information whereas women don’t. I hope this initiative will help women in that regard."

Barbara set up an informal women in mining group in London in 2006 and then decided to set up this portal for all women in mining.

Her day job is as a headhunter. She has 11 years retained executive search experience having worked in London and in Brazil. Since 2005 she specialises in senior positions in the mining industry with special emphasis on Latin America and other Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries.

She holds a BA in Political Sciences and a Masters in Conference Interpreting. Barbara had an international upbringing and speaks English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, German and Italian fluently.
